The Lion King

Después de ver la National Gallery, hemos callejeado por la zona comercial de Londres (Picadilly, y Regent Street). Una vez visitadas algunas tiendas, nos hemos acercado al Soho y a China Town bajo la lluvia.... Finalmente, hemos repuesto fuerzas en Covent Garden antes de ir a ver The Lion King. Allí hemos disfrutado de un gran espectáculo que creó que tardaremos muuuuuuuuuuuucho en olvidar ;-)

Tercer Día

Esta mañana hemos ido a Buckingham Palace para ver The Changing of the Guard(El Cambio de Guardia). Antes y después de la ceremonia hemos visitado las inmediaciones del palacio y paseado por sus parques y avenidas.

El segundo dia en Londres, hemos hecho una travesia en barco viendo diferentes monumentos a los lados del rio Tamesis. Ha sido genial, pero muy cansado, ¡good nighttt! ♡

Segundo día

Hoy ha sido un día lleno de emociones. Hemos viajado en metro, en DLR y en barco para desplazarnos desde nuestro hotel a Greenwich. El día ha comenzado en La Torre de Londres donde hemos aprendido mucho sobre la historia de Londres y sus diferentes gobernantes

Natural history museum

Ayer visitamos el Museo de Historia Natural de Londres. Un edificio construido en el siglo 19 con baldosas de terracota repleto de gárgolas y esculturas de animales, extintos y actuales. El interior del museo estaba repleto de objetos dedicados a la naturaleza. Entre ellos por ejemplo la réplica de un enorme esqueleto de Diplodocus, un huevo petrificado de ave elefante, el esqueleto de un Dodo, una recreación de un terremoto y muchas más cosas imposibles de enumerar. Espero volver algun dia a Londres solo para visitarlo de nuevo.

Aprendiendo

Hoy ha sido un día lleno de emociones. Para muchos de los chic@s este era su primer viaje en avión, otros nunca habían viajado fuera de la Península Ibérica y otros nunca habían cogido el metro... Ha sido genial compartir con ell@s esas nuevas experiencias y disfrutar con sus caras de satisfacción con cada nuevo aprendizaje.
La visita al Natural History Museum con un guía de excepción, David Gutiérrez, nos ha entusiasmado a tod@s y nos hemos quedado con ganas de ver más.
Después hemos caminado hacia Harrods. Allí Gemma y Laura nos han explicado los orígenes de unos de los grandes almacenes más famosos del mundo y algunas curiosidades sobre los mismos, y hemos visitado sus diferentes secciones...
Ahora toca reponer fuerzas...

OUR CLOTHES LINE AGAINST

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

   Last week, the students at IES Tierra de Ciudad Rodrigo and their teachers began to work on a Project against Domestic Violence_ "Our Clothes Line Against Domestic Violence".

   We worked together to stop Domestic Violence and to raise people's awareness against it. First, our teachers explained us the activity. Second, we made groups of three or four students. Then, we chose a slogan. While some students were decorating their items of clothing, the others were writing their slogans. Finally, we went to the hall and hanged our clothes on our clothes line.

  The event was great because we worked together and enjoyed ourselves. Moreover, we learned a lot about Domestic Violence and we thought about how to stop it.

LET'S SEE SOME PICTURES ILLUSTRATING THE DIFFERENT STEPS OF OUR PROJECT:

A.    MATERIAL:

                   YOU ONLY NEED A PIECE OF PAPER (SQUARE), YOUR HANDS AND A LOT OF PATIENCE 

B.       STEPS:

            1.          MAKE A SQUARE (FOLD THE PAPER FORMING A TRIANGLE AND CUT UP THE PAPER YOU DON'T NEED)

            2.         FOLD THE SQUARE INTO 2 EQUAL HALVES, YOU WILL GET A TRIANGLE.

            3.         REPEAT STEP 2 TO MARK THE 2 HALVES. THEN, UNFOLD IT.

            4.         MAKE A TRIANGLE ON EACH SIDE (USING THE CREASE MADE IN STEP 3 AS THE CENTRE). IF YOU DO IT RIGHT, YOU'LL GET A SQUARE.

            5.         TAKE THE FLAP ON THE LEFT END OF THE SQUARE AND FOLD IT TOWARDS THE CENTRE. REPEAT THIS STEP WITH THE RIGHT FLAP. (IF YOU DO IT RIGHT, YOU'LL GET A DIAMOND). THEN, UNDO THIS STEP.

            6.         OPEN THE MODEL AND USE THE CREASES MADE IN STEPS 4 AND 5 TO MAKE A DIAMOND.  YOU HAVE TO FOLD THE TRIANGLES MARKED ON EACH SIDE INTO THE MODEL.  

            7.         FOLD THE MODEL IN HALF AND YOU WILL GET 3 SLAPS.

            8.         TAKE THE UPPER FLAP AND FOLD IT TO THE LEFT (FORMING A SMALL TRIANGLE 0N THE INFERIOR PART OF THE MODEL). THEN, REPEAT THIS STEP WITH THE FLAP AT THE BACK.

            9.         FOLD THE RESULTING FLAPS TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE (THESE WILL BE THE WINGS)

           10.         NOW, WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THE BODY AND THE TAIL OF OUR DOVE. FIRST, LET'S MARK THE TWO SIDES OF THE MODEL THAT WILL GO INSIDE OUR DOVE. HOW? FIRST, FOLD ONE SIDE OF THE MODEL TO THE LEFT AND THEN FOLD IT TO THE RIGHT.

            11.        UNDO STEP 10. OPEN THE MODEL AND USE THE CREASES MADE IN STEP 10 TO FOLD THAT PART  INTO THE MODEL.

            12.        NEXT, FOLD THE WINGS UP

            13.        NOW, WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THE BEAK OF OUR DOVE. FIRST, LET'S MARK THE TWO SIDES OF THE BEAK THAT WILL GO INSIDE THE MODEL. WE WILL FOLD THE BEAK TO THE LEFT AND THEN TO THE RIGHT.  FINALLY, WE WILL USE THE RESULTING CREASES TO PUT THAT PART INTO OUR MODEL.

            14.        AND IT IS DONE     !!!!     WE'VE GOT A BEAUTIFUL PEACE DOVE  !!!

Peace Day

Since I was a child, I have been celebrating Peace Day every year. On this day, people do different activities related to this topic. At school, children make crafts, such as paper doves with peace messages written on them. They usually learn songs and they do activities inside and outside their classroom.

 

All of these things are really cool, but some people don´t know what Peace Day means. In many countries, as Irak, Iran, North Korea, they are in war with other countries. It´s terrible, because some innocent people die, and other people become poor. Today there are less wars than there were in the past, but there are wars too. On Peace Day we celebrate that we have peace in our country and with other countries. So it´s a pretty good day that we must celebrate every year!

PEACE

Nowadays, everybody seems to be concerned about the importance of peace in the world. But the truth is that some countries are thinking about starting new wars while others are celebrating the Peace Day. In my opinion, this is not a real concern.

My main reason is that lots of weapons are sold to the most powerful countries like USA or Russia. They even have nuclear weapons. I do not see the need of this if there is a real peace, so I definitely do not understand it.

Secondly, peace is not only the absence of war but also tolerance and respect. Apart from damaging people physically, you can harm people in others ways. For example, hurting them by insulting a religion.

All in all, I am happy about children caring about peace but I think there is still a long way to get it for real.

Peace, as everyone knows is something difficult to reach and even more difficult to keep.
Everyone in the world is different. For that reason, they will have a different mind and will be able to argue to defend it. As many people see it, peace is only a dream or an impossible image to be reached.

However, I strongly believe we should fight to get an equilibrate world.

Firstly, we have travelled a long path to be where we are, many people had been punished, isolated and killed for advocating the idea of peace, equality and justice. If they hadn't fought, we might have been at the same way as many ages ago.

So wouldn't those people be recognized as role models to keep on and make their efforts worthy? Wouldn't we?

It doesn't matter the time we spend on trying it because at least, we will make some people's lives better.

My main reason to believe we should fight is because every little and single good action can have a huge award.

To sum up, I hope every one of you should try to make this world better, because violence wouldn't take us further.

   The students of 3rd year of ESO, 4th year of ESO and 1st year of BACHILLERATO who are travelling to LONDON on 23rd April have been working very hard for more than two weeks to deliver Valentine's cards, red heart lollipops and red carnations at our highschool on such an especial day.

  Los alumnos de 3º de eso, 4º de eso y 1º de bachillerato que viajarán a LONDRES el 23 de abril han estado trabajando muy duro durante más de dos semanas para repartirtarjetas de San Valentín, piruletas de corazón y claveles rojos en nuestro instituto en una fecha tan especial.

Arranca el curso 2012-2013. Tuvimos esta mañana el primer claustro, con novedades y sorpresas. 

Echaremos de menos a Isa (Economía y Dirección), a José Carlos y Mª José (Orientación), Salomé y Mª José (Lengua), Dolores (Geografía e Historia), Ernesto (Bilogía y CoCo), Luisa (Química), Marcos (Música), Manuel (Educación Física), Teresa (Filosofía), Gema (Inglés), Joscelyn (Francés), José Antonio (Portugués) y Miguel (Madera)

Recibimos de nuevo a profesores que estuvieron por aquí hace años y ahora vuelven, como Pilar (Lengua), Mª Angeles (Geografía e Historia), María (Portugués), Juan Antonio (Apoyo al área de Ciencias y Tecnología) y Lourdes (FOL-PGA). También un buen número de profesores totalmente nuevos en el centro, que vienen con la cadena perpetua por el Concurso de Traslados o por la Adjudicación de vacantes para interinos.

El equipo directivo sufre un ligero retoque. Arancha será directora en lugar de Isa, Pepa será Jefa de Estudios en lugar de Arancha y nadie será Jefa de Estudios para la ESO en lugar de Pepa. Maribel seguirá siendo Jefa de Estudios para ciclos y Miguel Ángel sigue siendo secretario. El nuevo CoCo (Coordinador de Convivencia) será Gonzalo.

Las mayores sorpresas vinieron en forma de reducción de grupos y en los departamentos que van a asumir las horas de Conocimiento de Lengua y Matemáticas y alguna de Latín.

Por lo demás, todo tranquilo. Elegimos grupos y asignaturas, con más horas que los años anteriores. Muchos con 20 y 21 periodos lectivos, contando entre ellos la tutoría de la ESO o la famosa guardia lectiva.

Pruebas de Acceso a Enseñanzas Universitarias

Esta mañana empezó la famosa PAEU en el IES Tierra de Ciudad Rodrigo. A primera hora nuestros alumnos eligieron entre Buero Vallejo y Jovellanos. Después, los alumnos de Historia desarrollaron el tema de los reinos cristianos de la península en la Edad Media y el tema de Alfonso XIII y los de filosofía tuvieron de menú Marx y Aristóteles. Por la tarde dos textos en inglés, sobre "teenage flash mob robberies on the rise" y "caffeine and alcohol, potent mix for young"
